In 1955, Midwest Hardware was founded in St. Paul, Minnesota by Leonard N. Bredemus, and in 1956, its name was changed to Bredemus Hardware Co.
Bredemus acquired land at 650 Rice Street for the new company. Incorporating in 1959 as 'Bredemus Hardware Co., Inc.'--remained at the Rice Street location until 1987 when the move was made to our present location at 1285 Sylvan Street.
Bredemus' early success through the 1970's is due largely to the inspiration and perspiration of its founder--Leonard Bredemus. The Company instituted many innovations in industry processes, management, and most importantly--Customer Relations.
Bredemus strives to continue that legacy of top quality customer satisfaction with the support and diversity of our staff and manufacturers. We pride ourselves in the continuing training of our staff through the top standards of our industry-
AHC (Architectural Hardware Consultants)
CDC (Commercial Door Consultants)
ALOA (Associated Locksmiths of America)
DHI ( Door and Hardware Institute)
Leonard retired in 1976, and interest in the company transferred to his sons--Dick and Nick Bredemus. Under the guidance of the sons, the company has grown to include a staff of over 30 dedicated employees … and we do mean dedicated, many of our staff have been with us for over 20 years.
